So today I would like to talk about something that happened to me once I decided to accept a job offer in Toni&Guy Emirates or UAE. I've applied for a job with them once I've worked with Toni&Guy Singapore for about 6 years and was very welcome by them, a good place where I've learnt a lot with them, everything was correct I've made many good friends and worked there kinda happy most of the time and due few problems like covid and economy downturns it was impossible to continue so Ieft the company with heart pain but still in touch with them till now. I thought was same for every salon of the brand but I was wrong, in UAE they invited me saying that the salon was busy and to not be worried because I will definitely make money, once I arrived over there even after I said I will spend a good cash to fly and rent a place plus living expenses for 2 months living before getting the first payment, yup Toni&Guy if you start work with them they will pay the first payment after two months, I was already familiar with that when I went to Singapore, but when I arrived in UAE the salon was a dead place where I have basically 2 or 3 customers per week... believe me and during 8 months working there I've got only few hair colors like maybe 10 or 12, not kidding... So when I arrived two months of my work passed and when the pay day arrives the bad surprise they deducted the visa application fee that was about one month of my salary so I've only got paid one month and they didn't informed me before I signed the contract but only after 2 months and according to #UAE laws it's illegal but for me I see that there is happening everywhere even in groups of hairdressing around internet you can find other stories about it so I don't know if the Labour office there called #MOHRE is really paying attention in the service line workers, during the time I was there I saw a Indonesian girl crying in Facebook that the salon she was working has done something similar to her making her work for a month without getting paid so be carefulwhen you get a job there. They arranged me a apartment where I've paid with my own cash plus flight tickets and everything from my pocket this made lost almost 10 thousand US dollars. Months passed and I wasn't able to recover my money and was passing my time sitting all day in the salon without any perspective of future I've asked to resign and the owner sent me two local guys to force me to accept move to Dubai where I've made clear I didn't want it and in that moment I only want to get out of that terrible mistake. I hate my life since I've accepted that job where made me lost huge part of my life savings and even after I complained to the authorities Labour Office etc nobody gave a shit for what happened there. I decided to leave as "absconded" means that for the first time in my life after working in many different countries I have to escape as almost criminal because a terrible boss. I've sent emails to Toni&Guy management in London where they said they will take action but honestly I doubt about that, because franchise seems to not care so much about the wellbeing of their professionals but only about income generated by the business. Anyway I came across other stories from the same place, also same country and believe me in different countries as well. It seems that many hairdressers are getting Cheated by unscrupulous bosses around the world so I am warning and asking you guys to be careful with who you trust and where do you go or accept to work for. Please take care and do not put your sweat money into someone lies and false promises. Do a research about the place, boss, management and company history before you take any decision ask for colleaguesand ex coworkers if they know anythingabout the place or boss, actuallythis was my mistake to never search more information and blindly accept the offer. Believe me this can costs you a huge loss of money, time and gives you a sadness that will take time to recover. Fortunately I've been in the international hairdresser market for very long and I know many good people so I ended up standing on my feet again but it could be worst for some people. So this post here in my Blog today is to help you to be careful and prevent yourself of unnecessary suffering or money loss.
About UAE for hairdressers I don't recommend unless you're familiar with someone local or with the person that is offering you a job if that's not the case I would recommend you to be careful. This happened to me in 2022 just after all mess created by Covid... I was trying to restart my life and look what I've got... what a terrible shit.
I've told them the money was part of my life savings and even like that they still managed to destroy part of my life with such irresponsible actions. Some people don't know how bad they make people's lives and they think they can do everything bad without any consequences. So in a short story I went out of my country believing in all bullshit lies spoken by them and end up with my bank account drained because someone felt is ok to sugar-coat their terrible business without care of the consequences in the persons life. It is just ridiculous. As international hairdresser I really recommend you guys avoid to accept job offers from certain places and brands. All this stupidity has make a hole in my personal savings around almost 10 thousand US dollars... I was about to do something bad and I left hoping to never cross paths with them anymore.
About the country itself I don't have any hard feelings, just I didn't have time to feel happy there after all this situation.
